Overview
During INSPIRE Nepal 2024, our team collaborated with NCRS (Nepal Christian Relief Services) to build a Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) tracking web application. The system was designed to help NCRS manage and monitor their field programs more effectively.
What We Built
A full-stack web application that tracks:
- Beneficiaries — individual people reached by DRR programs
- Groups — community groups involved in DRR activities
- Activities — specific DRR interventions and events
- Phases — program phases and timelines
- Sectors — thematic areas (e.g. WASH, shelter, livelihoods)
- Fiscal Year — all data scoped and reportable by fiscal year
The system also tracked beneficiary and group activities per fiscal year, giving NCRS a clear picture of program reach and progress over time.
Technical Stack
- Frontend: React.js
- Backend: ASP.NET Core Web API
- Database: Relational database with fiscal year scoping
- Methodology: IBM Garage Essentials, Design Thinking, Agile sprints
Process
The project followed the agile methodology — empathy mapping with NCRS stakeholders, defining user personas, and iterating through prototypes before full implementation. The team worked in agile sprints to deliver a working system within the program timeline.
